July in Review

What a busy month. We again had a pile of visitors and events going on this month so its been go, go, go.

Gord’s place
One Saturday we ventured up to Gord’s house in the country. We've been to his house many times before but, it has totally changed! It is now a big construction site. Uncle Gordo has added a new section, roof and covered porch, its going to be fantastic when its done. The best part of our visit up there wasn’t the new construction but all the people and kids. Gord held a mini Bermuda reunion with olden day friends of Mommy & Daddy’s and most of them brought their kids along. It was a great day of playing outside and playing tag and chasing the dogs around the property. Mommy & Daddy sure had a good time catching up with their friends. I’m glad to see them laughing so much.

Kimmer’s visit
Mommy & Daddy’s olden Bermuda day friends Tammy & Gerry visited the Toronto area for two weeks with their kids Michael & Leah. They live in Calgary now, but came all the way to Ontario for a long visit. I really liked seeing Tammy & Gerry again but this time I got to meet their kids. They are a little older than me, but I did my best to keep up with them. They sure are fun. We enjoyed many outings together over their 2 week visit. Mommy is sad that they are gone now. She really misses her friend Tammy and wishes she didn't live all the way out in the land of cows and 10 gallon hats (sounds like a fun place).

Auntie Steph and my Cousins
More visitors – yeah! My auntie Steph and my cousins came to visit from Montreal for 3 days. They stayed at my house and it was super fun to host them. I was able to play with my cousins everyday. My Grandma Ruth also joined in the family fun and came to visit as well. It was a full house, but fun for Mommy as she had extra hands to watch me and my baby brother.

Centreville Island
Now I vaguely remember coming to Centre Island last year a few times and I forgot how much fun Centreville amusement park can be. Daddy took a Friday afternoon off work and we met up with the Kimmers, Aunt Stephie, Ruby, Fiona & Grandma Ruth. We went on the ferry to Centre Island and had an amazing time. Last year I was too little to ride on most of the rides at the amusement park, but this year I could go on a bunch of rides, including the "chew-chew" train and the water log ride. I loved it! I was saying “again Dadda, again Momma” after each ride. It was such a good time with my cousins and the Kimmers that I didn’t want to leave at the end of the day. I can’t wait to go again.

A word from the new guy
Ok, am I on? Yep, ok. So another month and a ton of things observed and experienced. So far so great. I’m packing on the weight and growing very tall. My Mommy is loving how well I sleep at night. I’m consistently sleeping almost 5 hours straight before I wake up from a hungry stomach. I even slept for 7.5 hours straight two times (Mommy seemed tired those days so I figured I would let her get more rest). My older brother has been great, showing me all the cool toys he has and reading me books. He’s really good at sharing and I look forward to being able to play with him more. I met a bunch more people this month and got to go on a few longer car rides. Again, it helps when you sleep. I’m starting to coo and chatter back and forth with everyone and I think I’m learning how my hands work. Everyday is a new learning experience.

The New Guy

June in Review

So I'm here busy as ever and teaching my new little brother the ropes. So far so good, he's a quick learner (when he's awake). I've been filling him in on all the ins and outs of "dump trucks", "diggers", "trains" and so forth. I've also offered him a chance to co-host this blog, so you will hear from him later.

Visitors

I guess when a new baby comes along, its a good reason for people to visit. We sure had a number of visitors this month, including Grandma Ruth, Auntie Kelly, Uncle John, Uncle Toddie, Great Aunt Maggie and of course Grandma Wood and DaDad Wood (Granddad Wood) . People came and went and it gave me the opportunity to show off my little brother. It was nice to welcome him to the family and show him off.

Father's Day & Air Show
On Father's Day, I went with Daddy and DaDad to a city called Hamilton. We drove and drove in traffic and eventually arrived at the air show. It was a vintage plane airshow, which means the planes are from when DaDad was a boy. So old. It was cute to watch DaDad run around being excited to see all the planes he dreamed of flying when he was little. We spent a long day at the air field and enjoyed it, but my favourite part of the day was taking the school bus to and from the show's parking lot. It was so much fun that I kept talking about the yellow school bus for days afterwards.

Visitors from London
Later in the month, my buddies Rydan & Haley came for a visit. They stayed for a lunch BBQ hosted by Mommy & Daddy and I was again able to tour everyone around my new sandbox, playroom and show off my new brother. It was fun playing with these guys again.

A word from the new guy
....so how does this work? I just tell people about what happened this past month? Really?!, I'm 4 weeks old and you want me to remember this stuff?....ok, I'll give it a try.

So I've been encouraged by the medium sized guy (I think he said he was my older brother) to share some of my thoughts and experiences from this past month. I'm new to this game so bare with me. It would appear that I'm the newest member for a 1, 2, 3.....4 member family. Everyone so far seems really interested in me and they seem like lots of fun. I sleep most of the day, so I do miss out on some of the goings on, but I do recall loads of new faces and people singing to me and cooing at me. Its been pretty predictable as of late, mostly eating, sleeping, diaper changes....you know the usual baby stuff.

May in Review

Wow, what a month! If I had to pick a word to sum up the month of May it would be “New”. It has been an eventful and fun filled month to say the least.

New Yard
This spring, once the snow melted, I noticed that my backyard left something to be desired….mostly grass and a proper lawn. So Daddy, Mommy and I set out to transform this dirt and mud pit into a nice oasis. It was a lot of hard work, but I was able to follow Daddy’s lead and get new sod put down and plants in the flower beds and even a small garden planted. Yard work is hard, but can also be fun and rewarding. I enjoying sitting back with my apple juice and seeing the fruits of our labour.

New Sandbox
Daddy decided I needed a proper sandbox, so over the course of a few weekends he and I went to Home Depot a half a dozen times to get wood, screws, paint and sand. In the end we built a 6’ by 4’ sand box and it's fantastic. I spend a lot of time in there with my diggers and dump trucks. Thanks Dadda!

New BBQ
No newly finished backyard can be truly complete without a BBQ (so I’ve been told), so we finally went out and bought a new BBQ. I helped Daddy put it together and it only took us about an hour with my help. Now I’m learning all about how you can cook outside and enjoy the backyard in even more ways.

New Brother
Well Mommy & Daddy have been telling all about this day and I finally got to meet my new little brother. He is awesome and I love him. Sometime in the middle of the month Granddad and Grandma came to stay with us. I think Mommy wanted me to watch and supervise them while she and Daddy went to the hospital. I didn’t mind at all, they are very easy to supervise and seemed to understand and listen to all my rules of the house.

My new baby brother arrived near the end of the month and I was excited to meet him. I’m always very happy to get a chance to hold him and even go to the fridge to get him milk when he is hungry (which is often).

Always time to help Mommy
Even though I have all these busy and new things in my life, I’ve made sure to reserve time for me and Mommy. I made sure that I helped her make banana bread muffins, which is something we do often.
I love you Mommy!

April in Review

It’s been a busy month. I’ve been hard at work helping Mommy & Daddy set up the new place and organizing all my toys just where I want them. It seems to be a never ending task, but I love my new home and all the space to play.

Visitors
Granddad and Grandma came to visit for a few days in early April. To keep Granddad free from boredom, Mommy gave him a long list of small chores. I was more than happy to help Granddad with that list, which included putting furniture together, installing new locks, changing furnace filters and even setting up more baby gates. My favourite was helping build Mommy’s new rocking chair, which was made easy with my super power drill.

Later in the month, I had a short visit from my buddy Cameron, who came over to see my new playroom and to run around in the back yard with me and play soccer.

I also had a visit from my uncle James and aunt Kristie, who flew in from Winterpeg for Easter. They stayed with us for lunch and we played and laughed in the backyard. I love entertaining family and friends.

First Haircut
Mommy & Daddy told me all about this day, but I still wasn’t sold on having my hair cut. We went to a special place where the barber seats are actually trains and planes and cars. I chose to sit in the airplane and a lovely lady named Kim cut my hair. I wasn’t too happy about it, but I trusted her and the end result was actually pretty good if I must admit. Mommy says my cuteness went to a whole new level now.

My New Bike
On one of our many shopping excursions, I was able to convince Daddy that I needed my first bike. He ended up buying a tricycle, which I love!!! I was too excited to wait for Daddy to finish painting the bathroom in order for him to assemble the new bike, so I convinced Mommy to help me put it together. She was a great help and we got it assembled in no time. It rides really well and I have a whole new means of mobility now. Thanks Momma and Dadda!!

Spring is here
With Easter weekend came warmer weather. It also meant a play date at the local sandbox with Zach, who was visiting from out west. He came with his parents who are olden day friends of Mommy & Daddy.

Ice Cream Cake
Grandma Ruth visited us and we opted to have a late b-day celebration for her. This meant we got cake. I love helping to blow out the candles, because shortly after that you get to “eat” the cake. This cake was different however, it was made of ice cream….i didn’t know you could get ice cream cake. I Loved it!

March in Review

Road trip and sleep over at Gord’s
We decided to get out of the city for a few days and go up north to see Gord. Daddy & Gord went skiing one day while Mommy & I hung out at the chalet. After skiing we hung out at Gord’s, which I loved because his weekend home is under construction and he had a big hole behind his house, a backhoe loader in the yard and tons of other big boy construction equipment. I even got to sit and play in the backhoe loader. Apparently we can’t go back until late spring because it won’t be safe for little guys like me to play in a construction zone, but I really hope that the backhoe is still there when I come back.

The Big Move
So all month I noticed that Mommy & Daddy kept putting stuff in these boxes and then stacking the boxes neatly in the corner. I wasn’t sure what they were doing but figured as long as my toys are still here that I shouldn’t get to fussed. Well one day Daddy started moving all these boxes to the elevator and I didn’t like that. It wasn’t until Daddy showed me what he was doing and let me help that I thought this was a fun game. I was so excited to help that I refused to change out of my PJ's. Mommy thinks I have something called “my surname hustle” as I just kept busy moving and wanted to get things done. Watch the video of me helping Daddy move.

So you might be asking, where did you move Mr. J? Well I’ll tell you! We moved one street away from our condo rental. We now have a nice 3 bedroom townhouse with a small backyard and playroom in the basement for yours truly. It’s fantastic. Daddy and Mommy even custom painted my new bedroom. I will miss our friends in the condo building, but we are only a street away and I can go back anytime for a visit.

I love my new home!

Loads of trips to Home Depot
It would appear that once you move houses it warrants multiple trips to Home Depot, Ikea and other stores. I helped pick out a new ladder and paint colours and even helped Daddy paint some of the closet doors. There sure was a lot of work to get our new home feeling just right. I’m glad I could get my hands in the mix to help out.
