Week in Review - March 24th to 28th

Exercise

Daddy was home all day today (Saturday). It was fun having him around, we watched our car shows this morning and then we went for a long walk outside. Mommy & Daddy said they needed exercise and I was happy to exercise with them….I mean what’s the big deal? Exercise is easy – you just go in your stroller and sleep while getting chauffeured around. I must have burned a few calories, because I woke up HUNGRY!

Smile :)
I think I’ve nailed down this “smiling” thing. It seems easy. I just “SMILE” and everyone else smiles back at me. It also has benefits, so here’s the back story…I was out and about and during an elevator ride this nice blonde lady takes a look at me and I think to myself “let’s give her a smile”…… so I give her a smile and voila she says “Wow, he’s so cute!!”. I think I might keep this up!

Rolling Over
My Mommy learned that I should get some “tummy time” now that I’m 4 weeks old. This tummy time is supposed to help me build up my neck muscles. Basically I lie on my stomach and lift my head up and look around until I get tired. I think I have this mastered, so I opted to roll over on my back. I just kick my legs back and forth and eventually I get some traction and kick and this gives me the momentum to roll on my side, then onto my back. It is fun and Mommy thinks it is pretty cool.

Week in review March 16th to 23rd

Monday March 23rd - I'm 4 weeks old today. Why it seems just like yesterday that I was born and coming home for the first time. How things have changed in 4 weeks. I'm so big now and already starting to smile and trying to roll over.

We also had a great visit with some more of Mommy & Daddy's friends. Henry, Amy & Jack came for a quick visit. They are from Bermuda and asked me if I would come down and visit soon and also play something called rugby. I'm not sure where Bermuda is or what rugby is, but if Mommy and Daddy take me, I'd love to go.

Saturday March 21st - We had more visitors today. Mommy & Daddy's good friends Cam & Tim came to visit. They brought their two kids (Rydan & Haley) and we had fun. They brought us lunch and then Rydan & Haley took turns chauffeuring me around in my stroller. Rydan said he'd ski with me once I get older, and Haley said she'd show me how to colour with crayons. They are both lots of fun.

Friday March 20th - I went to see my Doctor friend again. I didn't cry like last time and the Doctor told me that I was doing great. She said that this point in time I should be 9 pounds 10 ounces and the doctor weighed me in at 10 pounds 4 ounces. I've also grown 4.5 cm since my last visit. I'm now 59 cm long. I think I must have my Mommy's long body and Daddy's long legs. After the outing we came home and aunt Maggie came over with lunch for Mommy. They hung out while I took another nap.

Thursday March 19th
- MY FIRST PLAY DATE!!! - Mommy was so excited today. She took me in the car for a drive to visit her friend Kari and her two daughters Aliza & Leah. We played between naps and Mommy was happy to get out of the condo and see another adult. I didn't want to leave the company of those cute girls, so I kept wetting my diaper and crying so that Mommy couldn't leave quickly. The ride home wasn't as much fun as the ride to Kari's house. I like it when the car keeps moving and I cried when we stopped at each red light. I then discovered that I like a band called the "Beatles". Mommy played a song called "Hey Jude" and I was happy for the rest of the drive home.

Henry, Amy & Jack visiting us all the way from Bermuda.

Rydan & Haley tooking me out for a walk. They seemed to like pushing my ride around the walking trails.

This is a picture of me and I'm learning to smile. Mommy is showing me how to smile. She is soo funny!

Say what?

I visited the doctor again today and I'm already 10 pounds, 4 ounces.
So I says to the doctor, I says "pardon? how much?"
But then she explained that this is fantastic news and I should be very happy with this weight gain. Mommy was sure happy, she was smiling all the way home.

Week in review - March 9th to 15th

Sunday March 15th - I had a really big day today. I went to TACF with Mommy & Daddy and met tons of fun people and other babies too (did I mention they were all girls?:). I really enjoyed the music and all the ladies who paid attention to me. After TACF we went to Auntie Kristie's place to hang out with Grandma, Grandpa, cool Uncle Jamie & Auntie Kristie. I had a nap during lunch and then we went for another long walk in the warm weather. Everyone seemed so happy to be outside in the sunshine and warmth. I like days like today.

Saturday March 14th - Daddy had the day off work and we had more visitors who are old friends of Mommy & Daddy. They are Brian & Christina and they made Mommy & Daddy laugh so much they had tears in their eyes. I like it when everyone is laughing, it seems like fun. Brian and Daddy talked allot about work and things I don't know about yet. We went for a long walk in my stroller and I was on my best behaviour.

Friday March 13th - I finally meet my cool uncle Jamie. He flew in all the way from Portage Le Prarie (where he is doing military flight school training) just to see me. He was loads of fun and kept calling me "Ice man" and referred to himself as "Maverick". I told him my name is Jake but he was talking in some fighter pilot "zulu tango" language that I don't understand yet. He made Mommy very happy as he made such an effort to visit. I agree with Mommy, he's fun and I can't wait to hang out with him again. Autie Kristie is pretty cool too and I hope she comes to visit me again soon.

Monday March 9th - I had some happy yet teary eyed visitors today. I thought I was the only one who cried however these two seemed very happy but also had tears in their eyes at the same time. I was a little confused by the reaction but I took a liking to them instantly. They called themselved Grandma & Grandpa Wood. They seem pretty cool for old folk. Grandpa kept telling me stories about a magical land across the sea where he is from, it is a place where the men wear plaid skirts and everyone is frugal. Grandma said she's been waiting a long, long time to hold me in her arms. They hung out with me for a few days and promised me tons of Christmas presents and treats.

The Week in Review

Wednesday March 4th - My umbilical cord stump fell off today. At first I was alarmed to lose my little black stump but then I realized it didn't hurt and my belly button looks much better without it. Hopefully my belly button will become a cute little "innie" and not a big "outie" like Mommy has.

Thursday March 5th - I had a visit with the nice lady, Dr. Star again today. She poked and prodded me. I cried when she took me from Mommy and undressed me to measure my weight. It was really cold in the examination room!! I was so upset I started to scream and Mommy had to feed me so that I would quiet down and let her and Dr. Star talk. The nice lady doctor told Mommy that I must be feeding well as at 10 days old I'm supposed to be back at my birth weight.....well, I've gained my birth weight back and then some. I now weigh 8 pounds 10 ounces. I've also grown almost 1 centimeter taller since my last visit and my head had grown 2.5 centimeters in a week. Dr. Star was very happy with my growth so far. She must like me as she asked me to come back for another visit in two weeks.

Friday March 6th - Friday was a very busy day. We had so much fun. Emma came by in the morning for a visit. I like it when Emma comes to visit as she makes Mommy happy. She has also really helped Mommy and Daddy by bringing them some very yummy meals.

Great Aunt Maggie stopped by for a quick visit at lunch time. She also brought some yummy food for us. Thanks Aunt Maggie!

Also, on Friday evening Auntie Kristie came by to visit me. Poor Daddy had to work late so Kristie kept us company and paid loads of attention to me. This is the first time I've met Auntie Kristie and I think she is great. Auntie Kristie gave me a cute outfit from Roots which I plan on wearing to the cottage (camp) this summer. She also brought yummy Thai Food. Mommy kept going on and on about some mango chicken dish, not sure what that is but she really liked it. I'm quite happy with my milky milk.

Saturday March 7th - Wow, I have a new baby cousin. My aunt in Vancouver had a baby girl and now I have a little cousin to play with. Isn't that great, I'm less than two weeks old and already there is another addition to the family. Can't wait to meet her!!

Sunday March 8th - Bath time. I wasn't too sure about this thing called a bath, but once I stopped crying the water was really nice and I found it very relaxing. I think I like these bath things.

Jake's Outing

Mommy & Daddy decided they couldn't stay indoors much longer and convinced Jake to take out his styling set of wheels for a short walk to Tim Hortons and the Pharmacy. Jake loved the outing and his new ride until he became hungry five minutes from home so our casual walk turned into a speed walk.

Jake gets some visitors

Jake has been getting a number of visitors lately. He is slowly meeting all his fans and relatives. Most visits are short and sweet, which is best for Jake & Mommy's routine. We are glad he's getting to meet the gang and family.
Jake is in for another treat this upcoming week when he finally meets Grandpa John & Grandma Janet, who have been patiently waiting to visit their first grandchild. He is sure to be spoiled and enjoy their visit.
Jer & Jimmy visiting from Barrie & Montreal. Jake meeting some of the guys.

Aunt Kristie, good friend Emma, Grandma Ruth & Great Aunt Maggie visit.

Got Milk?

Well I'm 9 days old now and so far I like this new world I'm in. My Mommy & Daddy seem pretty cool and they love to pay attention to me.

I love to eat and sleep as you can tell from my pictures. Mommy thinks I have huge feet, but I can't tell since I have no shoes yet. Daddy's has mastered a technique to help me burp after eating and Mommy thinks I burp almost as loud as Daddy.

Well its almost time for another sleep. Stay tuned for more pictures of me!
