Week in Review June 23rd to 28th

2X
So guess who has doubled his weight since birth? Well to be truthful I’m not exactly doubled it, but I’m almost there – I'm a little short of doubling my birth weight. I’m now about 17 pounds. Mommy and Daddy are sure proud of me. It took allot of effort and eating, but I’ve now reached a milestone that is usually attained at the 6 month mark. I couldn’t wait!

What the $%*&!
So my mouth has been watering for the last few weeks like Daddy’s mouth does when he’s thinking of BBQ Season or when Mommy thinks of her favourite chocolate bar. I didn’t know what was going on other than my mouth sure was hurting me and I couldn’t resist putting my fingers in my mouth to help numb the pain. Well the culprit showed himself – it was this little white thingy that popped up out of my lower gums….silly thing was such a pain! Glad he’s out now so I can go back to being happy. This is the last one – right?

I was a good boy – I really was
So I went to the doctor and I thought we left on good terms after the last visit. I mean I didn’t pee on her wall at the last visit. I was on my best behavior this time as well, but she still jabbed my legs with two needles. I called an offside and severely protested. I mean what gives lady! What did I do to deserve this? I told my Mommy I’m not going to see the doctor anymore….enough is enough….Mommy just grinned.

Week in Review - June 16th to 22nd

Uncle Todd’s Visit
Uncle Toddy was in town for a seminar and joined us late on Sunday afternoon at Center Island. Uncle Toddie is Daddy’s older brother and he comes to town from Montreal every once in a while. He extended his stay in order to hang out with me for an extra day. While we hung out he showed me how to take a simple couch cushion and turn it into airplane wings, so I could sit and fly around the room….which was fun.

Happy Father’s Day
For Daddy’s first father’s day Mommy and I planned a great outing. We started the day by making a special French toast breakfast and then I surprised everyone by deciding to roll over from my back to my stomach….it was my special present to Daddy. I was secretly training in my crib for days in advance when nobody was looking. Everyone sure was surprised when I rolled over (see video below).

After a great breakfast we ventured downtown to meet Mommy & Daddy’s friends – Dave & Robyn (who they meet in Bermuda). They have a baby boy named Cameron who is only 2 months older than me. They joined us, along with Grandma Ruth as we went over to Toronto’s Center Island.

Center Island
Center Island sure is a popular place. We had to wait almost an hour to get on the Ferry apparently; I was asleep so I’m not sure how long we waited. This was my very first time on a boat, which was cool. This island has tons of beautiful places to walk, bike, play, picnic, etc. There is even an entire kids' amusement park and petting zoo. I can’t wait until I’m old enough to come back with Cameron to try out the rides.

Grandma Ruth
My Grandma Ruth was in town to see an Abba concert at Roy Thompson Hall. She stayed the night at our condo. This was my second overnight guest. Grandma loved paying attention to me and making smiley faces and singing to me. Grandma Ruth was only in town for twenty four hours but she was able to join us on Sunday at Center Island.

Mommy’s work
Apparently before I was born Mommy used to go to someplace called “work” during the week. On Thursday Mommy took me into “work” to show me off. There were lots of people there who seemed happy to see Mommy and enjoyed meeting me. I smiled and flirted with a few of the ladies and they were so excited….Adults, they are so easy to entertain :)

False Alarm
Wow – on Tuesday night I was just getting ready for bed and telling Daddy about my day, when this loud bell went off in our place. The bell kept ringing and making noises. It was loud. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but Mommy and Daddy quickly put their shoes on and grabbed my diaper bag and we walked down the stairs to our lobby, where I saw a bunch of cool looking guys with axes, oxygen tanks and helmets. It turns out there was something called a “faulty sensor” which caused a false fire alarm. I didn’t mind as all the ladies in the lobby kept coming over to me and flirting and I got to see 3 red fire trucks with flashing lights. I also met a big fire man (see picture below). It was pretty cool!!!

Week in Review June 9th to 15th

Summer Patio Season
I’ve heard a lot about something called a “Patio Season” and BBQ’s. Everyone who talked about these always seemed so excited. On Sunday I finally got to experience my first BBQ when I went for dinner at my great uncle Frank’s and great aunt Joan’s place. Auntie Joan doesn’t like that title of “great aunt”, so I’ll just call her my Daddy’s Aunt. They have a really nice home with a yard in the middle of the city where we sat and chatted. My Daddy’s uncle Frank told us some great stories about the olden days and stories about my Grandpa Felkai. I also got to meet my second cousin David, who is big and tall.

My Fun Auntie Susan
My Daddy’s little sister came to see me on Saturday. She reworked all her travel plans and flights just to get a 24 hour lay over so that she could finally meet me. I’m glad she did. On Saturday we went to the airport to pick her up and then we spent the entire afternoon and evening together. She was so much fun, she read me a book and she played with me during tummy time and she even watched over me at church on Sunday. I even let her change my diaper a few times. She slept over on Saturday night on our pull out sofa and this was my first overnight house guest. I honored the occasion by waking her up in the morning. It was sad to say good-bye to her, but she needed to catch her flight home to Vancouver. I can’t wait to see her again!!!

Auntie Susan also brought us a little video of a real Winnie the Pooh that she took while she was staying at Grandpa’s camp. (See the video below)

Zoolo Tango Man
It was the weekend of aunts and uncles I guess because my cool uncle Jamie was back in Toronto to see Auntie Kristie. Uncle Jamie is almost done his military flight training school, but he took the weekend off and came by to see me and Mommy for a few hours while he was in town. He is also finally starting to come around and reluctantly admitting that my super swing chair is cooler than his planes.

Shopping with Aunt Maggie
On Thursday, I went with Mommy to see my other Great Aunt Maggie. We met up for some shopping. Mommy needed something called a “dress” for an upcoming friend’s wedding, so we all went shopping together. It seems kind of boring to shop, but I just go with the flow. Mommy was happy she found something she likes and it fit, so I guess it’s all good. It was a great thing Auntie Maggie was there because she managed to get Mommy an excellent deal. I’m starting to realize that Mommy loves getting things on sale. I don’t really understand all this but I’m sure I’ll hear all about it as I grow up.

Week in Review - June 1st to 8th

Patio Garden
On Sunday we went to the grocery store and plant nursery. Mommy was very excited to pick up some flowers for our small patio garden. We hung out on the balcony together and planted the flowers. The place looks better already. Now all we need is a kiddy pool and a sandbox.

Nose Picker
Is your Mommy like this? Is this normal? Ever since I had my cold my Mommy is obsessed with my nose and what comes out of it. She is constantly looking up my nose and using this bulby thing to suck yucky stuff out of it. I don’t like it very much and I put up a huge protest every time she does. It’s strange though, I always breathe better afterwards. I guess she knows what she is doing, but I still don’t like it very much.

Mommy Stroller Group
On Tuesday, Mommy and I went to the park to meet a whole bunch of other Mommies and babies. This group is something called Mommy Stroller exercise group. I really don’t get this concept of “exercise”, it’s really not a big deal…..you simply go someplace in your stroller and sleep while Mommy runs up and down stairs, does sit ups and runs while pushing my stroller.....it’s no big deal. Mom sure was in a good mood after her workout though. I’m happy when Mommy is happy. Did I mention that I’m the only boy out of all the babies in the stroller fit class?! Advantage Jake. Tee Hee.

Skyping
Isn’t this cool? I get to speak and see all my relatives live on the computer over Skype. On Skype, I talk to my Grandma & Grandpa Wood, Grandma Ruth and sometimes my Auntie Sally and Auntie Susan but this week I spoke to my uncle Jamie who is still in Military flight training. He’s funny and was making faces and strange noises to entertain me. My swing chair is still cooler than his planes however.

Week in Review - May 26th to 31st

Nature Walk
On Saturday we went for a two hour walk in the nice sunny weather. Mommy & Daddy wanted to sweat out their colds. We walked all the way from our home down a nature trail to Bloor Street and back. It was nice to get out of the condo and see the trees and birdies.

Home with my parents
This was a relatively slow and boring week. I hung out with my mommy & daddy who seemed to be moving a little slower than usual. They were constantly making loud noises with their noses and using these Kleenex thingies. I kept talking to them in order to raise their spirits. We slept a lot and rented some movies. I guess that is what you do when you get a cold. We are all feeling much better now and glad to say we are getting back to normal.

Visiting my Doctor friend
Here is a question for you! Why do they call it a cold? Honestly I was never cold, but wow I had something nasty called a cold. I kept sneezing, coughing and something kept coming out of my nose. I didn’t like it one bit. My mommy & Daddy took me to see my doctor friend, who said – “yep he has his first cold, but he is generally ok”. My doctor friend also decided to take my measurements. I am now 66cm long and I weigh 15 pounds. This time I decided to behave myself and didn’t pee in her office.
