Weeks in Review December 3rd to 15th

My new hot rod....sweet!
Babysitting duties
On Saturday, Daddy had his office Christmas dinner and Mommy & Daddy asked me to watch over Uncle Toddie. It was my pleasure to babysit him. He is really independent and fun to take care of. He was on his best behavior all night and didn’t cry once. I showed him my new baby walker and we watched some cool musical sing along videos.

I can feed myself thank you very much
I’ve mastered feeding myself cheerios and baby mum mums and I’m working hard at mastering this spoon thing. I’ve been refusing to let Mommy or Daddy feed me lately as I want to get this down on my own…..ok, spoon digs into the food, spoon lifts up, spoon gets put into your mouth….seems simple! I also like to feed Mommy as it’s easier for her to eat the squash and a carrot then it is for me (wink, wink).

Chores, chores and more chores
You know, just when you get all your chores done, you need to start all over again. For example it takes me days to spread all my toys out over the condo and get them just where I want them….and then my parents come along and put them all back in the toy box. Uggghhhh! How frustrating! I mean can’t they just leave them out where I put them. I try to be patient with them as they are still learning. I also help Mommy with the laundry when I can, she seems to like to put the folded laundry in the basket, but I prefer to take it back out and put it on the floor, that way I can see all of it. That’s the way it works….right?!?

Long Lost Relatives
On Sunday we went for a drive to see my great aunt Mary and family. She lives out in the country on an amazing property with horses and a pond and loads of trees and land. There were lots of people at her Christmas party and it turns out two of them are my second cousins once and twice removed. I was on my best behavior and made as many friends as I could, but I was really tired as I missed my nap. I was sad to leave, but I was happy to get some nap time on the drive home.

Parcels & Boxes
So every few days or so Daddy comes home with another box with my name on it. This is so much fun with the exception that Daddy won’t let me see what’s in the boxes until something called Christmas. It turns out these boxes are being sent by family & friends for me. I can’t wait to see what’s inside. I hope it’s something cool!

Granddad’s hidden motive
So we got a call from Granddad and Grandma Wood and they asked if they could come down to Toronto to visit and do some Christmas shopping. Granddad’s a clever guy and I think he planned this trip in order to get my help again and to check out my fisher price tool set. It wasn’t long after his arrival when he started to tinker with my high chair and we found ourselves in a situation where he needed to use some of my tools. Poor Granddad, he really needs some tools with a little bit of bling. In the end, I’m very thankful as he fixed my highchair tray. YEAH!!!

Granddad & Grandma Wood’s visit
I had loads of fun with Grandma Wood and Granddad. They watched over me while Mommy finished some Christmas shopping. They kept me company, we played games, read stories and Grandma pushed me around on my toy car. The weather wasn’t very nice outside, so we played inside most of the time.

Baby’s got rhythm
Funny thing happened last week. I was playing with some of my musical toys and all of a sudden I felt the urge to bend my legs up and down and shake my butt a little and move my arms around and around while the music played. As soon as the music stopped, the urge went away. When the music came on again the urge to move came back. Is this normal? Mommy says it’s called “dancing”…..well whatever it is, it’s fun!

Weeks in Review –November 19th to December 2nd

On the Road Again
On Friday, I went in the car with Mommy & Daddy for a long drive. I slept for most of trip which helped the time pass by. Our ultimate destination was Granddad’s and Grandma’s place, but we made a pit stop in Smith Falls, where I experienced the wonder of McDonald’s for the first time. Not that my parents wanted to stop at McDonald’s (they’ve asked me to clarify this), but the Timmies was too busy and there isn’t much else in that town. Anyway, while I ate my rice cereal and veggies, I watched Mommy eat pancakes and sausage and Daddy had something called an Egg McMuffin. I like all the fun colours and business of the place. I also liked to watch all the cars come and go from the drive through.

Visit with Grandma & Granddad Wood
While Daddy went to Montreal for a visit with a few buddies, Mommy and I stayed to visit Grandma and Granddad Wood. It was a fun relaxing visit and there was no pressure of a party or people coming or going….just me, Mommy and the Grandparents.

Quickly I came to realize that Granddad loves to tinker with stuff around the house. He’s always fiddling with objects, taking them apart and trying to fix them or make them better. I was fortunate to be present when Granddad got into one of his “Fixer” moods and he started to “tinker” with a floor lamp. After I watched him struggle for a while, I decided to jump in and help……well; I wasn’t there more than a minute when I realized his tools were all wrong for the job. The poor guy doesn’t even have one tool in his collection that lights up or makes noises. And they are all plain silver or black in colour. I think Granddad needs to stop with these motormaster and craftsman tools and look for the fisher price brands……my tool kit is way better…… my tools play music and sing the alphabet.

The land of No
I also heard the word “No” allot at Grandma & Granddad’s place. I guess I kept them on their toes while I visited because I heard phrases like – “no Jake don’t touch that”, “no Jake don’t pull that plant over”, “no Jake don’t go in the cupboard”, “no Jake don’t climb on top of the dishwasher door”, “no Jake don’t take the knob off the Stereo”, “no Jake don’t draw on Granddad’s colonoscopy result diagram” and so on and so on.

Uncle Jamie’s Room
While visiting Grandma and Granddad, I got to stay in Uncle Jamie’s room. He has so many cool things in his bedroom, including a moose lamp. Unfortunately the moose had a tragic run in with one of my toy cars. Usually when a moose and motor vehicle come into contact the moose wins but not in this case. Oops. Sorry Jamie. I hope the veterinarian (aka Grandma) will be able to fix him.

The Chalmers
On Saturday, we hosted the Chalmers Family for dinner and a movie. They came bearing tons of presents…..they honestly came with an entire bag full of toys for me. I love it when they visit!!!! I also got hands on instructions on how to play with the toys from Rydan & Haley. They are so much fun. I can’t wait until they visit again!

Uncle Toddy
On Sunday, Uncle Toddy came over to have dinner and play. I was in such a good mood and had so much fun while he visited. Uncle Toddy is an engineer and showed me a bunch of new ways to use the building blocks and stack toys.
