Well what can I say…. it’s been a busy start to the New Year. Sorry for the delay in updating my fans on my goings on, but I’m learning to walk and getting too busy as of late to sit down and focus on the blog.
Starbucks
Starbucks
So one day on a walk Mommy and I went to a place called “Starbucks”. It smelled funny. Mommy bought something called a “Latte”. I was really upset that she didn’t get me one but she explained that this type of milk is only for big people. Anyway, so as we walked home, Mommy finished her drink and started walking faster and faster and talking really quickly. When we got home we played with all sorts of toys. I think it was a ploy to distract me from the fact that I didn’t get one of these yummy drinks. So, when Mommy wasn’t looking, I went into the recycling bin and tried to drink the big people drink. Mommy is clever though, she had already cleaned out the cup.
Doctors visit
I went to visit my favourite doctor for my ten month check up. Dr. S was happy to see me and I was happy because she didn’t give me any needles this time. Since she was so nice, I decided not to pee in her office and I kept Mommy dry too. Dr. S checked me out and said I’m doing great. I’m still at the top of the chart for height. I’ve grown 4 centimeters since my last appointment.

Play Date
This past week Mommy took me over to Sloane’s house for a play date. (You might remember that she was born on the same day as me. Mommy and her Mommy met in prenatal class.) Anyways, Sloane lives down the street and we had an awesome play date. I showed her that I can almost walk and she showed me how to scream real loud and how to clap. The play date was so exciting and fun that I had a two hour nap afterwards. Man oh man; do all girls make you this tired?
Car Shopping
So Daddy and Mommy took me in the car a while back and I fell asleep. When I woke up I was going into a building with all these shinny new cars and trucks. There were dozens of them in many shapes and colours and sizes. We spend a lot of time walking around and getting in and out of these vehicles. We ended up leaving in our car, but I heard that we might get something bigger very soon. I love our car, but I could use the extra space to haul more of my toys.
First Word?!
Well Mommy & Daddy’s reaction was shocking. All I said was “Naked” and they started to laugh and smile and clap in praise. I was just repeating what I’d heard so many times before. Every night before bath I hear “its bath time, its bath time” and I also hear “Are you naked? Naked boy, naked boy”. So naturally when Daddy helped me take off the jacket of Mr. Teddy the bear, I said blah, blah, Naked, blah, blah, blah. I haven’t said it since then. Mommy and Daddy keep bugging me to repeat this word but I think I’ll make them wait a while or perhaps surprise them with something new.
Just like Christmas for a special friend
This past weekend, I attended my friend Leah’s 1st birthday party. It was like her very own Christmas morning where only she received presents. She had a whole pile of presents to open and I was more than eager to help her try out some of her new toys. I got a front row seat (well actually I stood the entire time) as I wanted to be there to help her open presents just in case she needed some back up. She didn’t end up needing my help but, I made sure to play with and inspect her new toys and ensure they were safe. Mommy and the other parents entertained themselves with cupcakes, coffee and Mommy talk. When is my birthday? I hope I get my own little cake just like Leah did.
Shovel
Did I ever tell you about one of my Christmas presents? It was a simple item in my stocking, but it’s one of my favourite things. It’s a blue plastic shovel. I go everywhere with it, to the grocery store, to church, on walks, I use it to push other stuff around, I dig my food with it, I tap on the floor with it and even take it in the bath with me (because it needs to be cleaned at the end of the day too).
Walking
Well who needs a walker! About a week ago I was cruising along the edge of the sofa when I noticed a toy on the other chair. I realized, to save time, I could just walk over and get it instead of sitting down, getting into a crawl position, crawling over, and then standing up again. So hey, I just took the 3 steps needed to get over to something stable and then shimmied my way to the toy. Voila, that was easy. Since then I’ve taken as many as 6 solo steps, but don’t ask me to do it on demand, as I’m still mastering the basics. But check out the video below of me walking beside Mommy.
